It is so exciting to anticipate Easter Sunday. This is the day that Christ rose from the dead, giving us the most observable evidence that there really is life after death. Yes, Lazarus was raised from the dead by Jesus in the days prior to the Last Supper and the Passover Week, but when Jesus rose from the dead, it illustrated His absolute authority over death. He raised Himself from the dead! (John 10:17-18) No wonder when we see Him again in Revelation 1:18 He carries with Him the keys of hell and of death. Only God, in the form of Jesus Christ, has this kind of power. No man can raise himself from the dead. So when Jesus stated to Martha, “I am the resurrection and the life…” He was making clear His absolute authority over life and death. When He raised Lazarus He proved it and on Easter Sunday He proved it even more forcefully! Hallelujah, Jesus is alive!
